Trees for Future is a sustained campaign of Delhi Greens for protecting the trees of Delhi. Trees are vital components of Earth’s ecosystem and play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere through photosynthesis. Photosynthesis not only sustains human life but also mitigates climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. Photosynthesis also produces the organic matter that we consume as food.

For cities like Delhi, trees are even more important since they clean the air by absorbing dust, control air & noise pollution, help regulate the local climate, recharge the ground water, protect urban biodiversity, provide shade and so many other ecosystem services for the urban residents. The mere presence of trees enhance the aesthetics of our surroundings and contributes to our mental and emotional well-being.

At Delhi Greens, we believe that saving trees is not just an environmental duty, it is a moral imperative that safeguards our planet, its inhabitants, and the future generations who will inherit it. Inspired by Prof. Wangari Mathaai, we also believe and encourage all citizens to plant and nurture at least seven trees in their lifetime to balance their ecological footprint.
