Delhi Greens carried out a sustained campaign to save the trees in the University of Delhi campus from being felled in the name of Commonwealth Games 2010.
- For the purpose of upgrading and creating sporting facilities in the University of Delhi for the Commonwealth Games 2010, some 1,000 trees were marked for felling.
- Delhi Greens created much awareness about this mindless action and also gathered a considerable number of people who collectively called for stopping the felling of heritage trees.
- Though our work saw huge success in case of stopping the unscientific and brutal marking or numbering of trees, in this case we could only achieve some success and authorities agreed to not cut but transplant the trees.
