25 March 2019: Delhi Greens has initiated a campaign to highlight the emerging Jahangirpuri Landfill, a dumping site for Construction & Demolition (C&D) Waste of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC).
The campaign was initiated after receiving calls from concerned citizens and nearby residents on the sudden rise of this waste dump, which has also become a big source of air pollution. The dump has in fact increased considerably and has become a major source of dust and air pollution in the North Delhi area.
Delhi Greens visited the C&D Dumping site and has already spoken to the agencies involved, including writing to the Chief Minister and other concerned agencies on this matter. We are following up on this to ensure that the Jahangirpuri C&D Landfill does not become a Himalayan landfill, as has been the case of the three MSW landfills in Delhi, viz. Bhalswa, Okhla and Ghazipur.
