Smriti Vatika is a beautiful green space located opposite to Satya Niketan, along the ring road at Moti Bagh. The concept behind the garden is even more beautiful and people are encouraged to plant trees in the memory of their loved ones.
However, through a concerned citizen Delhi Greens learnt that a part of Smriti Vatika was to be given away to a petrol pump located adjacent to it. This could also mean the cutting of trees located in this part.
We carried out a sustained campaign to protect the entire Smriti Vatika through letters and petitions to all concerned agencies and by highlighting the issue in the media and with the public. The campaign was successful and Smriti Vatika continues to be the beautiful serene natural bliss it was envisioned to be.
